Driven to be a ‘Leader of the Pack’
It’s common during corporate earnings calls for executives to describe a “people-first” culture throughout the company. During the most recent Builders FirstSource earnings call, Chief Executive Officer David Rush took that approach to a higher level, highlighting a specific person for his inspirational performance.
“You have heard me say that our people are the building blocks of our organization,” Rush said. “They inspire me every day to continue the evolution and growth of our people-first culture.”
That was his introduction to a shout out to Mitchell Ingram, of the company’s Blairsville, Georgia facility. The 17-year veteran began his career as a Commercial Driver License (CDL) driver.
“For five years, Mitchell was the driver that every customer wanted as he flawlessly delivered materials to their job sites, earning their trust and loyalty,” Rush said.
Ingram’s natural skill at customer service led to a promotion to an inside sales position at Builders FirstSource. He “quickly became the go-to salesperson for both our internal team and our customers,” Rush said.
Today, as a key member of our outside sales team, Mitchell has become the market's top salesperson, and recently won a Leader of the Pack Award, recognizing him as one of our top sales team members. On behalf of Builders FirstSource, I extend my warmest congratulations to Mitchell for his outstanding contributions and achievements.”
In addition to its Leader of the Pack Award program, the Dallas-based LBM giant embraces a First Team MVP program, recognizing every other week an employee who represent the company’s core values.
“At BFS, we have many similar remarkable stories, further exemplifying our commitment to the team members that make us so successful,” Rush said. “Their dedication and commitment are invaluable to our team's success, and we are fortunate to have them.”
On the business end of the earnings call, Rush described the company as well. Positioned to win in the market and outperform the competition, despite sales and earnngs declines.
“Despite a challenging macro backdrop, we performed above forecast due to the strength of our product portfolio, execution on our strategic priorities and the tireless efforts of our team members,” he said.
