Westlake Ace expands its Texas base

3/6/2018

Shortly after announcing a string of Midwest acquisitions, Kansas City, Missouri-based Westlake Ace Hardware has expanded deeper into Texas.

The retailer, which is owned by Oak Brook, Illinois-based Ace Hardware, has acquired Turner Hardware in Farmers Branch, Texas.

With this purchase and the recently announced acquisition of the four-store Watkins Hardware chain in the Midwest, Westlake now has 90 neighborhood hardware stores in Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.

“We are proud to be able to continue the tradition of excellent customer service that the Turner family has provided to the Farmers Branch community for the last 60 years,” said Tom Knox, CEO of Westlake. “The acquisition of Turner Hardware expands our presence in Texas and allows us to build upon a great customer base by expanding product lines and extending store hours to serve the needs of the customers.”

Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Westlake took possession of the store, located at 12895 Josey Lane in Farmers Branch, on April 13, 2015. The acquisition increases the number of stores in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to five including Arlington, Colleyville, Mansfield and Fort Worth.
