Scenes from a Market: Do it Best revs up Indy

2/20/2018

Indianapolis -- Organizers of the Do it Best October Market had a number of highlights on the agenda -- both on the market floor and on the stage -- here during the four-day event that runs to a close Monday afternoon.

As the Fort Wayne, Indiana-based co-op celebrates its 70th anniversary, it also is saying goodbye to retiring president and CEO Bob Taylor. Taylor described the event as "bittersweet," for himself, but full of opportunity for attendees.

"Between our 70th anniveray celebrations, new product launches, enhanced svings opportunities and distributing another year of consistenly high member rebates, my last market as CEO may be the best one yet," he said. On Sunday night, the co-op passed out $116.4 million in member rebates, marking the 12th consecutive year in excess of $100 million.

The highest rebate went to Texas-based hardware and building supply dealer Parker Do it Best Lumber, with a check of just over $2 million.

On the merchandise side, the co-op announced expanded programs with Channellock, a new and stronger relationship with Milwaukee and updated paint offerings, among others.
