Orlando, Florida -- Orgill’s 2015 Spring Dealer Market featured some 2,000 exhibitors here at the Orange County Convention Center. Also on display were three model stores, shipped in from the distributor’s retail laboratory in Memphis, Tennessee.
The model stores are designed to offer merchandising ideas for retail customers -- everything, including endcap techniques, product adjacencies, store signage and checkout design. Front and center was the model store dubbed One Stop Hardware plus. It’s salient feature: it packs a 16,000-sq.-ft. SKU count in only 11,000 sq. ft. of area.
Around the store, sliding shelves and drawers helped maximize the SKU count. An so did endcaps designed to take advantage of space along the sides, as well as the front.
The store is a larger version of Orgill’s 4,800-sq.-ft. One Stop Hardware model store, which packs the same SKU count as a typical 8,000-sq.-ft. footprint.
