House-Hasson welcomes Snapper
House-Hasson Hardware premiered a new national vendor – Snapper Lawnmowers -- and master distributor status for Scott’s Lawn and Garden products at House-Hasson’s winter 2015 dealer market.
Dealer reaction to the moves was described as “exceptional,” by Don Hasson, the distributor’s president.
House-Hasson, America’s largest independent regional hardware distributor with more than 2,200 dealers in 17 states and the Caribbean Basin, now enables dealers to buy Snapper and Scott’s product lines “directly through us,” said Hasson.
There will be three Snapper product categories: push and self-propelled mowers; garden tractors; and zero-turn mowers.
“The lawnmower business is something that had moved away from the independent dealers some years ago, but it’s coming back because of programs like this,” Hasson said.
The dealer market was held Jan. 8-10 at Opryland Hotel and Resort in Nashville, Tenn., with dealers, their family members, and vendors participating in the three-day event.
“Adding Snapper as a vendor and becoming a Scott’s master distributor will help make our independent hardware store and lumberyard dealers more profitable, which is our corporate goal,” Hasson said. “We’ve had a bit of time post-market to assess the reaction to adding Snapper and Scott’s. We’ve found the reaction to be exceptional, with dealers excited about these additions, based on sales at the market and follow-up inquiries and orders.”
Snapper is an iconic name in lawnmowers, Hasson said, and gives dealers a valuable new addition to their inventory. “Snapper approached us because they became aware of how aggressively we support our dealers and they wanted to do business with us,” he said. “ Snapper is a line that’s not in the big-box stores, it’s high quality, has good consumer acceptance, and it has been around a long time.”
Scott’s is a “great vendor,” said Allen Winn, House-Hasson merchandising vice president, and opens for vendors a door to attract lawn and garden customers to their stores.
“House-Hasson has become a Scott’s direct master distributor,” Winn said. “For dealers, that means additional discounts. For their customers, it means better retail prices.”
Winn said with spring approaching dealers will have the Scott’s product inventory available to them through House-Hasson, which should see significant sales results.
Hasson said there’s one reason driving additions like Snapper and Scott’s to the House-Hasson inventory of services.
