House-Hasson embraces custom pricing
Knoxville, Tennessee-based House-Hasson Hardware’s June dealer market will spotlight company features that enable dealers to custom-assign prices for their individual markets.
Dealers need the ability to set their retail prices according to their local conditions because every market is different, says Don Hasson, president of House-Hasson Hardware, America’s largest independent regional hardware distributor.
“For some time our customers have had the ability to choose retail pricing models based on nine sensitivity codes, and at the market we’ll be encouraging dealers to take advantage of these programs because retail pricing is crucial to their profitability.
“We think dealers should set the retail price on price-sensitive items,” Hasson said. “Dealers at our market can buy at an additional savings of five to eight percent. Coupled with the ability to set their retail prices locally then can do well, particularly on those price-sensitive items.”
Hasson added: “We have competitors who tend to set prices for the dealers on price-sensitive items. That’s not our philosophy.”
House-Hasson dealers can set the retail prices for price-sensitive items at the item level and use different rounding rules depending on how dealers want set the prices.
“Retail pricing is getting more important every day,” Hasson said. “Our system enables dealers to compete with the big-box stores and Amazon.com.”
Informing dealers of new and existing features of E-Toolbox, House-Hasson’s customer website, will be another emphasis at the June market.
“Dealers can use their computers to do inventory; assortment review; check status of orders in our warehouse; look at their drop-ships status; conduct a direct download of a drop-ship from E-Toolbox; and other important features,” Hasson said.
“We’ve put together an FAQ and are going to highlight the many things dealers can do on E-Toolbox,” he added. “That one of the advantages of our dealer market: we can talk to dealers directly about our programs that can improve their profitability.”
The upcoming dealer market is scheduled for June 16 to 18 at the Sevierville Events Center in Sevierville, Tennessee, just outside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
“Dealers and their families love coming to Sevierville because there’s so much to do in the area as well as minutes-away access to America’s most-visited national park,” Hasson said.
House-Hasson Hardware serves more than 2,000 hardware store and lumberyard dealers in 17 states and the Caribbean.
