Flexvolt hits the floor running
One of the heavily promoted product displays, complete with a Nascar racecar and hands-on demonstrations, was the DeWalt Flexvolt system.
The new power-tool system features what is described as the world’s first batteries that change voltage as the user changes tools.
The system “enhances the user experience with cordless power tools, offering both power and runtime for the jobsite,” said Frank Manarino, president of professional producuts group for DeWalt. ”The innovative technology of the Flexvolt System broadens what’s possible in the development of more capable and convenient cordless tools.”
According to its makers, the development means a new era of cutting the cord on power tools. Heavy-duty corded power tool applications can now be performed with cordless tools, without sacrificing performance, the company said. System offers power equivalent to corded tools, more runtime than previous cordless tools, and supports the existing 20V MAX System as well as new 60V MAX and 120V MAX tools.
