Ace Hardware recalls LED clamp light
Citing a shock and fire hazard, Ace Hardware is recalling the Ace Clamp-On LED Work Light, sold at Ace locations and other hardware stores between September and December 2013.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the cord bushing inside the light base has exhibited a tendency to fail, which allows the cord wiring to pull out of the base and expose bare wire.
No injuries have been reported.
The recall affects approximately 15,000 units of the Work Light, which has a silver plastic lamp head with black rubber sides and eight LED lights on one side. It's also identifiable by a black plastic cube-shaped lamp base and a silver clamp with black rubber grips.
The model number for the affected product is "DC004" with the date code "08/13," both of which can be found on the back of the light base.
The CPSC is urging consumers to discontinue use immediately and to return them to a local Ace store for a full refund.
