Dakota County Lumber Co. is the Indy ProDealer of the Year
Minnesota-based Dakota County Lumber Co. has been named the 2021 “Independent ProDealer of the Year.”
The annual award, selected by the editors of HBSDealer in concert with the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association, is designed to recognize a high-performance independent lumberyard with a commitment to best practices and the best values of the lumber and building material industry.
Dakota County Lumber will formally accept the award during the 2021 ProDealer Industry Summit, a virtual event that will bring the industry together for education and networking May 19-21.
The Farmington, Minn., family business was founded in 1984 and is now led by second generation owner Sunny Bowman.
“Having our team recognized for their hard work and dedication to doing business the right way, especially on the heels of an extremely challenging year, is extremely heartening,” said Bowman. “As an all-hands-on-deck operation, like so many other small independent yards, this award belongs to every single member of our incredible team.”
The company serves the Twin Cities metro area with expertise in decking, lumber, millwork, roofing & siding and windows & doors. A key differentiator is its “Delivered Perfectly” mindset to operations.
Dakota County Lumber Company’s story of success grew from a single truck and a $7,500 loan back in 1984. The company was the 2019 Northwestern Lumber Association “Dealer of the Year,” and it’s a multiple time “Trillium” honoree of Housing First Minnesota.
Past honorees of the Independent Pro Dealer of the Year award include CHIC Lumber of St. Louis (2018), Millard Lumber of Nebraska (2017), and Holmes Building Materials of Louisiana (2015).
The ProDealer of the Year award ceremony will take place on May 21. It will feature a moderated and interactive discussion with the 2021 ProDealer of the Year and Independent ProDealer of the Year.
The Summit, hosted jointly by the NLBMDA and HBSDealer, provides an exclusive three-day virtual educational forum designed to promote the growth of lumber & building product dealers, distributors, wholesalers, and the manufacturers who supply them.
