CRL's 'rodless' caulk gun
California-based CRL has released its new caulk gun without the steel rod. The product includes a patented mechanism that extrudes caulk by exerting pressure on the plastic cap at the end of the tube from a pre-tensioned spring in a lightweight 13.5-inch cartridge gun.
Like a tape measure, the spring-loaded mechanism is located at the handle of the caulking gun, retracting back into itself when the caulk tube is removed, ready for the next tube to be inserted. By eliminating the steel rod, application of caulk is now smoother and more controllable, according to the company.
In addition to the new caulk gun, CRL says its MultiPro sealant is now being used for interior applications and exterior sealing and adhesive purposes beyond traditional window and door uses. Examples include sealing the two-inch-wide gaps between the concrete slabs of building floors, and filling expansion joints inside and outside of structures, building wraps, and siding.
New glazing products from CRL also include:
- The GP3100 Viking Arm attachment. The glass-jack tool invented by CRL for precision lifting and positioning of large-format glass and other heavy, awkward materials.
- PRO GLAS-SLIP. A new, all-purpose dry lubricant and heat-resistant release agent designed to reduce friction and eliminate binding on glass, gaskets and channels.
- Interlocking Horseshoe Shims. Designed to streamline the alignment process for multiple shim applications in window and door installations, curtain walls and various other uses.
