Carter Lumber expects the Myrtle Beach facility to open in the first quarter of 2023.
In addition to the greater Myrtle Beach area, the new facility will allow Carter Lumber to service most of the coastal Carolinas, including Charleston and Wilmington.
“This expansion gives us unique capabilities to support our current business growth in North Carolina as well as the undersupplied manufactured component needs for the coastal Carolinas,” said Greg Harrell, vice president of sales for Kempsville Building, a division of Carter Lumber.
Carter Lumber said it projects that the new location to begin production late in the first quarter of 2023 and will employ 60 people.
Based in Kent, Ohio, Carter Lumber currently operates 169 locations in 13 states.
This summer, Carter Lumber announced that Kempsville Building Materials completed the addition of a new facility near Richmond, Va.
Situated on 18 acres with a 120,000-square-foot warehouse, Kempsville said the new facility will allow it to better serve professional builders in the region.
