National Nail’s CAMO deck fastener brand and MoistureShield are partnering with the North American Deck & Railing Association’s (NADRA) Deck Safety Month.

With summer approaching and families across North America spending more time together on decks, NADRA is encouraging deck safety.

“As a NADRA Deck Safety Ambassador, we encourage homeowners to inspect their decks to make sure they're ready for summer entertaining,” said W. Scott Baker, CEO, National Nail.  “We pride ourselves on offering the better way to build a deck—and we care just as much about the installation experience as we do the deck's integrity in the long haul. That's why we create fasteners that reduce lateral movement and have higher uplift holding power giving homeowners peace of mind that their deck is a safe gathering space for family and friends.”

CAMO, MoistureShield and NADRA urge homeowners and contractors to inspect their decks for deterioration of structural materials from water, climate factors and the corrosion of structural fasteners and connectors.

“We know this year more than ever, everyone is excited to get outdoors and spend time with family and friends on their decks,” said Matthew Bruce, vice president of Sales, MoistureShield. “Be sure to safeguard them by taking the time to check your deck.”

He noted common problem areas include moisture damage to wood which may cause deck failure. “It’s always best to use deck materials that protect against moisture absorption wherever possible,” he added.

NADRA recommends locating a local ASHI-certified home inspector or knowledgeable deck builder to assure decks are safe and code-compliant for peace of mind.

“This year more than ever, everyone is excited to get back outdoors with their loved ones, but please help keep them safe and check your deck before gathering,” said Mike Beaudry, executive vice president, NADRA. “May’s Deck Safety Month is the perfect opportunity to remind homeowners and contractors to evaluate deck safety ahead of the summer season.”
