In a March 21 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Builders FirstSource reported that it has promoted Steve Herron to COO.
Prior to the appointment, and according to its investors’ site, the nation’s largest prodealer and building solutions provider did not have an executive serving in this capacity.
Herron will be responsible for overseeing the company’s nationwide operations, according to the filing. This includes more than 500 locations in 42 states, which pulled in sales of $22.7 billion last year — a 14.2% increase compared to the prior year.
The new COO has served as president of the company’s East Division since January 2021. Additionally, Herron was senior vice president of operations for region 5 of Builders FirstSource from August 2015 through December 2020.
Before Builders FirstSource acquired ProBuild Holdings in 2015, Herron was SVPt of Southeast operations of ProBuild. Herron also served as SVP for HD Supply while overseeing its lumber and building materials division.
With more than 40 years of experience in the industry, Herron also held management positions at The Home Depot, HD Supply Holdings, Lowes, and Williams Brothers Lumber.
Other than the SEC filing, Builders FirstSouce did not reveal any additional details about Herron's appointment and promotion.
This is the second major executive appointment that Builders FirstSource has made in 2023.
In January, the Dallas, Texas-based company officially appointed Dave Rush as chief executive officer.
Rush was named interim CEO by the board of directors on Nov. 18, 2022, following the departure of Dave Flitman.
