Aubuchon Company, a 112-store chain in the Northeast, has joined Ace Hardware.

“In order to best serve our team, customers and communities, we need to keep learning, innovating and growing,” said Will Aubuchon, president, Aubuchon Company.

“And after significant deliberation,” said the CEO, “we believe that joining Ace will strengthen our ability to serve and more strongly invest in our future. Ace and Aubuchon are better and stronger together, than apart.”

The transition to Ace will take place over a three-year period, said the firm.

Aubuchon is a fourth-generation, family-owned company, headquartered in Westminster, Massachusetts, operating hardware stores across the Northeast in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland.

The company was founded in February 1908, when William Aubuchon purchased his first hardware store in Fitchburg, MA. Today, under the direction of William E. Aubuchon IV, great-grandson of the founder, the company continues to adapt and grow with a focus on retail innovation and customer convenience.

As part of the transition to Ace, said the firm, 76 of the Aubuchon stores will be converted to Ace branded stores. The 36 remaining stores will stay independent, locally branded stores due to the proximity to existing Ace stores.
