Builders FirstSource expands in New York
Builders FirstSource (BFS) has opened its first location in the Albany, N.Y. area, also known in the state as the Capital Region.
The new sales office is situated in Southern Saratoga County in Halfmoon, N.Y. Prior to the opening, BFS’s closest location to Albany was nearly an hour away in Johnstown, N.Y. Lumber deliveries from the new store will be serviced by Johnstown.
In the past decade or more, the area has become a vibrant tech hub with numerous manufacturers setting up shop. While BFS faces tough competition from big boxes and strong regional players, such as Curtis Lumber, the Dallas, Texas-based pro dealer appears to be eager to handle the needs of homeowners.
According to a report, BFS is offering replacement windows, doors, and siding, along with decking products. The company does not do installed sales but is working to put customers in contact with solid contractors in the area.
Last week BFS reported second quarter 2018 net sales of $2.1 billion, a 13.4% increase over net sales for the second quarter of 2017 of $1.8 billion.
