Maker of building materials MP Global Products has launched QuietBoard, a dense fiber board that uses the same recycled fiber technology found in its QuietWalk acoustic flooring underlayment.
“Developers of multi-family housing such as apartments and condominiums have long been searching for products to ‘keep the peace’ between living units that are above one another,” said MP Global Products.
The QuietBoard panels can be installed beneath floors to inhibit the transfer of noise, said the Norfolk, Nebraska-based firm.
Sustainable sound attenuating products may contribute to earning credit in material and resources, said the company, helping earn one credit if the project can satisfy a minimal 10% composition of recycled materials, or helping earn additional credits if the project can validate minimal 20% composition of recycled materials.
QuietBoard is manufactured with 100% recycled fiber from the textile and carpet industries, said the company, and can be utilized within a flooring assembly as floating, stapled or glue-down. The ¼-inch thick panels are available in 2-ft x 3-ft, or 4-ft x 6-ft sizes.
The product can also meet LEED standards for low emissions and therefore contribute to the category of Indoor Environmental Quality.
QuietBoard also adds insulating value, adding to energy efficiency while helping keep your rooms at a comfortable temperature, said MP Global Products.
