ABC Supply enters Canada

The building products distributor has acquired the Monarch Group.

The Monarch Group operates Monarch Siding Centre Inc., Monarch Exterior Centre Inc., and Monarch Metal Systems Inc.

Building materials distributor ABC Supply has entered Canada after acquiring the Monarch Group of Companies.

Monarch is a supplier of siding, roofing, and select exterior building materials throughout Alberta, Canada.

The move includes the purchase of Monarch Siding Centre Inc., Monarch Exterior Centre Inc., and Monarch Metal Systems Inc. 

This move marks the first international ABC Supply branches. The five acquired locations in Calgary, Edmonton, Acheson, Red Deer, and Lethbridge will operate under the Monarch trade name.

The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Founded in 1992 and based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the Monarch Group’s portfolio including the distribution of exterior building products, including vinyl, aluminum and fiber-cement siding, residential roofing materials, and related accessories, decking, and gutters.

Founded in 1982, ABC Supply is based in Beloit, Wis. Prior to this acquisition, the building products distributor operated more than 860 locations in all 50 U.S. states. 

Last month, ABC Supply acquired the U.S. distribution business of siding manufacturer Kaycan from global building products manufacturer Saint-Gobain. The purchase included 24 Kaycan locations with revenue of $424 million.

ABC Supply is also the parent company of Chicago-based L&W Supply.
