84 Lumber sponsors The Big Build
The Big Build is returning to The National Building Museum in Washington D.C. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, with the help of sponsors including 84 Lumber. This free, hands-on community day invites visitors of all ages to channel their inner builder.
“The Big Build is more than just fun; it’s an opportunity to inspire the next generation of builders, designers, and engineers,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing & public relations, 84 Lumber. “By meeting with professionals and learning about their careers, children can be exposed to new and important roles they might not have considered before.”
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants can visit dozens of different interactive stations presented by contractors, plumbers, electricians, ironworkers, carpenters and professionals in other related fields to explore and learn about their careers, skills and hobbies.
For those who dream of operating construction equipment, the outdoor "Truck Petting Zoo" gives children the chance climb inside real construction machinery, including a crane. This hands-on experience is not only fun but also provides insight into the machinery that plays a crucial role in construction projects.
The Big Build is supported by Associated General Contractors of America, HITT Contracting, 84 Lumber, Autovol Volumetric Modular, DAVIS Construction, Dewberry Engineers Inc., DPR Construction, Hensel Phelps Construction, MiTek, Modern Living Solutions, Modular Building Institute, Modular Maven, Module, Momentum Innovation Group, National Association of Homebuilders, New Gen Architects, Walsh Construction, Walter P Moore, District of Columbia Association of Land Surveyors, DLR Group, The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company, Washington Parent, and WETA.
