84 Lumber opening new Florida component plant

The prodealer says new manufacturing facilities are a “priority moving forward.”

84 Lumber plans to open its latest component plant in Winter Haven, Florida.

The company’s first company’s primary component plant in the state, the facility will officially open its doors for operation by the end of January.  

In conjunction with this opening, the prodealer said component plants are “top of mind” when it comes to expansion plans. Additionally, Florida has historically been a strong market for 84 Lumber with component manufacturing “will remain a priority moving forward.”

“Florida is an area where we are targeting immense growth,” said 84 Lumber Vice President of Installed Sales and Manufacturing Ken Kucera. “Opening this new component plant has already proven to be a great success and we expect to keep the momentum going. This new facility will allow us the capacity to not only keep up with market demands but also expand our customer base.”

The 80,000-square-foot facility features new, state-of-the-art roof and floor truss building equipment and will employ a staff of more than 80 associates. 

According to 84 Lumber, its latest plant will cover the central Florida market, including Tampa and Orlando, as well as the surrounding areas. 

“This is an exciting time in Winter Haven,” said Jim McMahon, general manager of the Winter Haven plant. “This area has seen dramatic economic growth in recent years. The opening of this plant shows that 84 Lumber remains dedicated to our pursuit of meeting customer demands. We are excited for what’s to come in the community as we open this new facility.”

In addition to this new truss plant, 84 Lumber recently opened truss plants near Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina; a new door shop in Denver, Colorado; and opening new stores in the state of California

Based in Eight Four, Pennsylvania, 84 Lumber is privately held and operates 310 facilities which include stores, component manufacturing plants, custom door shops and engineered wood product centers in 33 states. 84 Lumber also offers turnkey installation services for a variety of products, including framing, insulation, siding, windows, roofing, decking, and drywall.
