84 Lumber has changed its logo to pink this month across all the dealer's social media platforms.

84 Lumber is returning to its pink logo in October as it launches its annual breast cancer awareness campaign.

The program includes weekly $10,000 donations to four organizations, including breast cancer research. 84 Lumber will also change its iconic logo to pink on all social media platforms as part of the campaign.

“As a woman-owned company, we’re proud to be able to use our platform and resources to stand with those affected by this disease,” said Amy Smiley, vice president of marketing for 84 Lumber. “It’s important that we continue to raise awareness and help ensure that women get screened, get a mammogram, and prioritize their health.”

84 Lumber is partnering with lifestyle brand The Home Edit as well as The Clea Shearer Breast Cancer Fund in their mission to share resources, research, and support for patients battling this deadly disease.

The building supply dealer’s participation in the amount of $50,000 this year will be used via The Home Edit’s channels to drive awareness for additional donations and support and to further Clea’s mission of improving lifesaving research for fellow breast cancer patients and survivors. The Home Edit co-founder Clea Shearer created her eponymous fund after undergoing treatment, to not only raise awareness over the importance of early detection but to give back to the medical field that helped save her life.

84 Lumber’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month support includes:

  • Donating a total of $40,000 to various charities, by giving $10,000 to each of the following organizations: Bright Pink, the American Cancer Society, A Glimmer of Hope Foundation, and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
  • Sending care baskets to patients at area hospitals undergoing cancer treatment, along with 84 Lumber associates, customers, and builders who are going through cancer treatment or know someone affected by breast cancer. The baskets, which also will include donated items from 84 Lumber’s partner James Hardie®, will include an 84 Lumber blanket; Carhartt pink beanie; slippers; self-care items; hydration drink supplements; coffee, tea, and hot chocolate; pink tumblers; an ice facial roller; and hand-written notes of support from 84 Lumber team members.
  • Distributing information in a newsletter to 84 Lumber associates regarding healthcare benefits and resources available to associates.
  • Promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month through billboards across the Pittsburgh metro area.

“We continue to stand by the women and their families impacted by breast cancer, as well as the organizations who help them through the battle,” said Smiley. “Our hope is that one day a cure will be found.”
