84 Lumber lauds vendor of the year
84 Lumber has named West Fraser, a British Columbia-based forest products company, as its 2024 Vendor of the Year. The annual award is determined by several factors, including sales growth and commitment to service.
“84 Lumber has been buying from West Fraser for as long as I’ve been here – which is 40 years,” said 84 Lumber’s VP of purchasing, Mitch Wagner. “West Fraser’s diverse wood product offerings have been crucial in supporting our business needs. Their range of OSB products, panels and lumber offerings have consistently met our high-volume demands and have helped us supply our customers across the single, multifamily, and commercial construction industries.”
With a history dating back to 1955, West Fraser was founded when three brothers bought a small planing mill in Quesnel, British Columbia. More than six decades later, West Fraser has become a leading diversified wood products company with mills and locations across Canada and the United States. The company is 84 Lumber’s largest supplier in 2024 of Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF), Southern Yellow Pine (SYP), and OSB.
“In the 1980s, they were a major lumber producer in Western Canada,” said Wagner. “They’re still in Western Canada today, but they’re also a very large lumber producer in the Southern United States, as well as being the largest OSB producer in North America. Throughout their growth and expansion over the years, West Fraser has always maintained their focus on servicing the customer.”
“West Fraser has been enjoying a productive partnership with 84 Lumber for decades,” said Matt Tobin, senior vice president of sales and marketing at West Fraser. “We have watched 84 grow into one of the leading suppliers of building materials in the United States and have mutually benefited from our partnership as we have both expanded. 84 has always been a fair, trustworthy, humble company that looks for mutually beneficial ways to service the end user. We are honored to receive the award as Vendor of the Year and look forward to continuing our partnership.”
