3M operations in Clinton, Tennessee.
3M announced it is investing approximately $470 million and adding around 600 new jobs by 2025 at its plant in Clinton, Tennessee.
In a move to improve customer response time and increase sustainability, 3M said the investment will improve sustainability by replacing plastic packaging with more renewable packaging such as paperboard.
“The continued demand for innovative new 3M products, especially for home improvement, makes us optimistic about our growth in Clinton,” said Mike Roman, chairman and CEO of 3M.
As part of the expansion, 3M plans to invest in two of its fast-growing product lines: Filtrete™ air filters and Command™ brand adhesive strips.
The additional investments and jobs, said 3M, will help increase capacity and reduce manufacturing cycle time to be more responsive to growing consumer demand.
The news was shared in a joint statement by 3M, Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, and Bob Rolfe the state’s department of economic and community development commissioner.
“The talented people in East Tennessee, the partnership from the state government, and the flexibility of our manufacturing facility create an ideal environment for additional investment in Clinton,” said Roman.
