After more than 60 years in business, Westlake Ace Hardware in Kirksville is scheduled to close permanently at the end of October 2025, according to reporting by KTVO.

Cathy Roberts, the store's GM, told KTVO that high rents and low sales have led Westlake Ace Hardware not to renew the lease on the 1612 North Green Street location.

A store closeout sale is already underway, and KTVO reports that the closure will affect four full-time and 14 part-time employees.

Regarding the decision to close the store, Westlake Ace provided this response to KTVO:

"After more than 60 years of serving the Kirksville, Mo., community, Westlake Ace Hardware has decided not to renew the lease on its store at 1612 North Green Street. We will begin a store closeout sale soon. The store is scheduled to close permanently at the end of October 2025. The closing of any store is not a decision we take lightly, but as we continue to analyze same-store profitability and ever-changing market dynamics, we occasionally need to adjust our store count."
