    When True Value retailers assemble in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 20 to 22, the Chicago-based co-op will invite retailers to audition for its television campaigns. 

    According to Chris Taylor, True Value's director of communications, the one-day-only open auditions for camera-friendly retailers will be among the highlights of the co-op's market event. The retailers selected will play roles in the co-op's national advertising campaign in 2012.

    Chicago -- During his first general session speech to the assembled body of True Value dealers, CEO John Hartmann expressed a willingness to embrace change.

    He started by announcing a symbolic change at the True Value headquarters, which will be known from now on as the "Retail Support Center." 

  • Pentair recognized by True Value

    Pentair has been recognized as True Value Company's 2010 Partner of the Year.

    The award was announced at the Chicago-based co-op's annual vendor award banquet in Chicago.

    Pentair, which makes water-management products including Flotec pumps, said the award was based on "a 35% increase in retail sales at point-of-sale, margin expansion, consistent shipments with on-time/complete delivery rates at 95% or better, and participation in several key retailer-support programs."

     

     

  • Mahurin’s next stop: Orchard Supply Hardware

    Steve Mahurin, the former Home Depot and True Value Co. merchandising executive, will take over as the senior merchant at San Jose, Calif.-based Orchard Supply Hardware.

    Mahurin's appointment as executive VP and chief merchandising officer takes effect May 2. He will replace Steve Olsen, who has been named senior VP and chief strategy officer for the California hardware chain. Both men will report to Mark Baker, who was named CEO earlier this year.
