In the latest Quikrete Industry Dashboard, housing starts showed little traction in October.
The latest Monthly New Residential Construction report saw total housing starts move up by just 1.9% compared to the prior month as single-family starts were nearly flat (+0.2%).
Housing permits were sluggish as well, with total permits increasing just 1.1% in comparison to September figures. Single-family permits were nearly flat as well (+0.5%).
The report followed the latest National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index, which saw home builder confidence decline by six points.
On Wall Street, Builders FirstSource (BLDR) and Beacon (BECN) continue to demonstrate the biggest gains on a year-over-year basis. At the close of the Stock Market of the Stock Market on Nov. 16, shares of BLDR were up more than 107% from a year ago with BECN stocks demonstrating 37.7% growth from a year ago.
Also, shares of Sherwin-Williams (SHW) continue to rise steadily and are 25% ahead of their price last year.
The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline continues to dip. As of Nov. 17, the price per gallon stood at $3.33 compared to $3.58 a month ago and $3.73 on Nov. 17, 2022.
