The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA)  is holding a member-only webinar with Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK).

On June 24, the legislator will provide members with a behind-the-scenes update on the Congressional response to the ongoing lumber price volatility crisis as well as negotiations on infrastructure and tax legislation, the NLBMDA said.

Rep. Hern has been a lead advocate in Congress for the renewal of a Softwood Lumber Agreement and finding free market solutions to lumber price volatility. He will share the latest developments on his discussions with the White House and colleagues on Capitol Hill and the outlook moving forward.

Last month, Hern led a bipartisan coalition of 96 House Members in sending a letter to the Biden administration urging them to take action on a Softwood Lumber Agreement and raising concerns about lumber price volatility.

He was also a lead questioner in a recent congressional hearing with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai on the issue of softwood lumber.

The member-only webinar will be held on June 24 at 2 p.m. EST

Members can register for the event here.

Hern has served Oklahoma’s 1st congressional district since 2018 and currently sits on the House Ways and Means Committee which oversees the nation’s trade and tax policies. He also serves as co-chair of the House Small Businesses Caucus.

Prior to joining Congress, he worked as an aerospace engineer and eventually became a successful entrepreneur in several areas, including the building industry.
