U.S. LBM sales rose 16% in 2017

As U.S. LBM Holdings’ plan to go public gains momentum, the pro dealer demonstrated strong sales gains in 2017, according to a recent S-1 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

U.S. LBM reported net sales of $3.09 billion in 2017, more than a 16% increase from net sales of $2.66 billion in 2016. But the pro dealer also reported a net loss of $10.9 million for 2017, an upward swing from a net loss of $47.7 million in 2016.

The Buffalo Grove, Ill. company did not report quarterly figures and has yet to announce when a public offering could commence.

Founded in 2009 as three business units with 16 locations, U.S. LBM has grown through both acquisition and new “greenfield” locations. The dealer has acquired more than 40 companies and opened 20 new locations since its founding. As of the March 22 filing, U.S. LBM operates 237 locations in 27 states.
