U.S. Fence acquires Ideal Fencing, Brother’s Fence

2/20/2018

U.S. Fence, a subsidiary of Building Industry Partners (BIP), has expanded its footprint in Colorado through the acquisition of Ideal Fencing and Brother’s Fence Company.

Based in Eire, Colo., Ideal Fencing is the largest highway and bridge guardrail fabricator and installer in Colorado, according to BIP. Ideal also fabricates and installs commercial chain-link and iron fencing. The acquisition expands U.S. Fence’s presence into the transportation infrastructure sector, the company said in a statement issued this morning. U.S. Fence now includes three operating companies across 11 locations throughout Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma, with more than $130 million in annual sales.

Under terms of the deal, co-owner Jim Bocklemann will remain president of Ideal Fencing while co-owner Steve McWilliams will retire from the company.

BIP also revealed that U.S. Fence’s operating subsidiary Split Rail Fence & Supply Company has acquired Brother’s Fence Company in partnership with its founder, Chris Cox. Brother’s is a Front Range fence installer specializing in residential reconstruction. Its operations and employees are now a part of Split Rail’s Denver operations.

BIP has also named Andrew Reed as CEO of U.S. Fence Solutions. Reed has served more than 30 years in the construction labor and building products segments, including three previous CEO roles in private equity-sponsored companies, the company said.

In his previous position, Reed served as CEO of U.S. Builder Services: a $300 million specialty building labor business operating across the plumbing, electrical and drywall segments, serving production homebuilders and multi-family developers in California, Texas, and Florida.

Based in New York, BIP is a private equity investment firm focused on the U.S. LBM industry. The company has served as a equity capital sponsor for a number of the building products industry’s leading companies including U.S. LBM Holdings and Kodiak Building Partners.
