United in the promotion of soy beans

The United Soybean Board (USB) is promoting some of the sustainable products that use soy as opposed to oil.

"Many people don't realize that soy can replace petroleum-based chemicals in building products," reads a statement from the USB.

Among those products with soy are:

• Carpet containing BioCel cushioned carpet backing from Universal Textile Technologies;

• Hardwood plywood containing Pure-Bond formaldehyde-free wood glue from Columbia Forest Products;

• ProClassic Interior Waterbased Acrylic-Alkyd interior paint from Sherwin-Williams; and

• Ultimate Polyurethane interior wood coating from Rust-Oleum.

The USB is the sole independent farmer-driven group n the U.S. that researches new uses for soy.
