Throwback Thursday: Legislative matters

4/22/2020
The May 2019  issue of Hardware & Building Supply Dealer magazine covered the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association's Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference.

[Read last year's coverage here.]

The event brought dealers from around the country to Washington, D.C. to promote the importance of the lumber industry to their communities and the economy. Some of the specific issues tackled last year included: repeal of the health insurance tax; strengthening of the low-income housing tax credit; and renewal of the U.S. Canada softwood lumber agreement.

The NLBMDA's 2020 conference unfortunately fell victim to the coronavirus shutdown. But the association has been actively lobbying for a number of key issues in recent days -- see Senate approves replenishment of business relier programs; and NLBMDA continues to call on Congress for loan action.

Next up for the NLBMDA: the 2020 ProDealer Industry Summit, hosted in concert with HBSDealer, and set for San Antonia, Texas Oct. 7-9.
