Sakrete donations fuel a playground
A new playground for Charlotte-area school kids at Blythe Elementary in Huntersville, North Carolina, is operating thanks to the local volunteers with an assist from Sakrete.
In conjunction with Hands On Charlotte, the volunteers transformed an empty field of dirt and mulch into a new, sophisticated playground.
In addition to the monetary donations, Sakrete made in-kind product donations consisting of 16 volunteers to help with the construction, 280 bags of Sakrete Fast-Setting Concrete Mix to secure the playground equipment in place and more than 1,650 bags of mulch to complete the landscaping of the playground from the Lawn and Garden division of Oldcastle, the parent company of the Sakrete.
Earlier this year, Sakrete presented the Carolina Panthers with a $10,000 check for the sakrete Sack Program, which benefits the Charlotte-area Business Volunteer Council (BVC), a coalition of local businesses that promote volunteerism. The BVC in turn uses these donations for the Charlotte Playground Build Program, which celebrated its 14th playground build this year.
“Being able to participate in the annual playground build and invest in our community’s youth is important to Sakrete,” said Meredith Murchison, senior brand manager for Sakrete of North America. “We continue to sponsor the Sakrete Sack Program and every year look forward to spending the day with other volunteers to build stronger communities and show young people that there are others who care about making the community a better place.”
