RILA supports labor board reform

The Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) came out in support of reform of the National Labor Relations Board. 

RILA VP government affairs Kelly Kolb issued a statement in support in response to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Ranking Member Lamar Alexander (R-TN) introducing the NLRB Reform Act to the United States Senate. 

“Retailers applaud the efforts of Leader McConnell and Senator Alexander to make meaningful changes to the structure of the National Labor Relations Board, moving the board back above the fray and into its rightful role as a neutral arbiter. 

“The common sense changes proposed in the bill, such as expanding the NLRB from five members to six, and allowing parties to move directly to the courts when the NLRB drags their feet, would ensure that the NLRB returns to the impartial role intended by Congress when the NLRB was created.

“These changes have the potential to curb the activist agenda of the NLRB, which has led to damaging decisions, such as the Specialty Healthcare decision, which trampled 40 years of precedent to create micro unions.”
