Readers Respond: Taxes and regulations loom large

As the NLBMDA gathered for its Spring Meeting & Legislative Conference in D.C., we thought we'd turn to our readers nationwide to see which priorities loomed large in their minds from the organization's 2017 policy agenda.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, business- and profit-friendly practices were tops, with "reduce unnecessary regulations" taking 35% of the vote, and "business-friendly tax reform" at 33%.

Other legislative priorities took home a small percentage of votes:

Make housing more affordable: 9%

Create more incentives to build green: 9% 

Promote market-friendly building codes: 4% 

Protection from lawsuit abuse: 11%
