Readers Respond: A memorable Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is, first and foremost, an important day for the remembrance of our troops. Culturally, it also marks the unofficial start of summer in America, as well as a major sales weekend in the retail industry.
Earlier this week, we polled our readers to see how Memorial Day sales did (or didn't) go at their stores.
And we received a mixed response. The largest share -- 41% -- said "it was a boon for our bottom line."
Another 31% said that "from a sales standpoint, it was a forgettable weekend," and 29% said "we held some promotions, and they performed okay, or about the same as last year."
How did sales go at your store? There's still time to vote.
