Readers Respond: LED leads the way

"Green" is a major buzzword, but what does it actually mean in practice?

Earlier this week, we polled our readers to see how they felt about energy efficiency in a retail setting: namely, what the best way was to get there.

As it turns out, changing out the bulbs won in a landslide: "an LED lighting retrofit" earned 68% of the votes.

The remainder of the options each earned a paltry few votes, and evaporate coolers got none.

Here's how the results played out:

Solar panels: 9%

Skylights for natural daylight: 13%

Evaporative coolers: 0%

Enhanced insulation: 9%
