Police nab imposter disguised as ABC Supply employee

A man posing as an employee of ABC Supply bilked a homeowner out of $10,000 for new windows that were never installed, according to an article in the New Hampshire Union Leader.

Shawn Talbot, 32, has filed court papers stating his intentions to plead guilty in connection to four felony charges, including issuing bad checks, identity fraud and two counts of misapplication of property.

On Nov. 19, 2008, according to the media report, Talbot went to a local Citizen's Bank and claimed to be a representative of ABC Supply, a Beloit, Wis., distributor of exterior products, according to indictments filed in Brentwood, N.H. Talbot opened a business checking account in the company's name.

Talbot has already obtained a check from homeowner Winston Grady for $10,400, in exchange for installing new windows in GradyOs Londonderry home sometime between Nov. 17 and 20, 2008, court records say.

Talbot allegedly spent about $3,150 of Grady's money for personal and business expenses, knowing the money was supposed to be paying for the window project, according to prosecutors.

He was initially scheduled for trial this month in Rockingham County Superior Court. Had he been convicted at trial, he faced 7.5 to 15 years in prison.

Talbot will be sentenced to two 12-month jail terms, which will be suspended if the deal is approved by a judge. Talbot will also have to pay $18,092 in restitution and remain on probation for two years, court documents say.
