Osmose acquires PhibroWood

2/20/2018

Griffin, Ga.-based Osmose announced its acquisition of the wood-preservative business of PhibroWood.

Osmose completed the purchase of the wood preservatives business of PhibroWood LLC, a subsidiary of Phibro Animal Health Corp. PhibroWood’s business focuses primarily on the manufacture and sale of micronized copper and ACQ wood preservative products.

Specific terms of the deal were not revealed.

The acquisition includes the assets PhibroWood used in the business, such as patents, patent applications, trademarks and trade names, and certain manufacturing equipment and inventories. According to a company news release, the additional manufacturing capacity helps Osmose meet the increasing global demand for micronized wood preservatives. The transaction also includes the settlement of certain ongoing intellectual property disputes between the parties.

“This acquisition is both timely and strategic,” said Osmose president Paul A. Goydan. “Specifically, it allows us to consolidate the intellectual properties and technologies involved in producing a wide range of micronized wood additive and wood-preservative products.”
