OSH makes executive moves
San Jose, Calif.-based Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) has announced four new appointments and a promotion in its merchandising department.
Steve Phillips has been promoted from buyer for the hardware department to merchandise manager for hardware and industrial, reporting to Mark Kauffman. He joined OSH in 1999 and has worked in store operations, human resources and merchandising.
Brian Hersey has been named plumbing buyer, reporting to Michael Peterson. Previously, Hersey managed his own sales, marketing and consulting company, with emphasis on the home improvement industry. Prior to starting his own business, he worked 24 years at Lee Meyers Co.
Traci Smith was appointed garden buyer, reporting to Eamonn Murtagh. Smith has 15 years of buying experience with Mervyns and has been a senior business analyst, operations manager and sales manager.
Carol Nakauchi joined the team on April 6 as the housewares buyer, reporting to Judy Gripenstraw. Prior to joining OSH, Nakauchi was a marketing manager at Long’s Drugs; an associate buyer with Macy’s; and product manager with Sesame Street Retail stores, Gymboree Corp. and Natural Wonders. Nakauchi was also a buyer for Discovery Channel retail stores, Cost Plus World Market and the Britanne Corp.
Andy Passman was appointed merchandise manager for the tools/appliance area, reporting to Mark Kauffman. He most recently worked at Home Depot where he served in various roles, including plumbing merchant, in-store services, and new store merchant. Prior to Home Depot, Andy Passman was a plumbing merchant at HomeBase. He was also president of a small hardware-tool retail company in New Jersey.
“I am excited to have a team with vast experiences join the merchandising department,” said Mark Kauffman, OSH senior VP merchandising. “Their experience and leadership will strengthen our team’s capabilities.”
The team will set prices to maximize profits and manage the performance of their ranges, planning promotions and markdown. They will also oversee the delivery and distribution of stock and interaction with suppliers.
