Now hiring in Fishers: IKEA
Fishers, Indiana, not too long ago was a sleepy hamlet on the outskirts of Indianapolis. In the last two decades, a residential construction boom – and its well-trafficked roads -- has fueled retail development of all stripes. Soon, those stripes will be blue and yellow.
IKEA, which describes itself as “the world’s leading home furnishings retailer,” is planning a Fall 2017 opening of its massive store here on the eastern side of Interstate 69, about 15 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis. As construction continues, the store has entered full recruitment mode.
The company says it seeks 250 employees for the store, from merchandising to child-play supervision. In addition to its recruitment pitch that includes up to four months of paid parental leave, and other benefits, the company is emphasizing its atmosphere.
“IKEA offers diverse positions for different coworkers’ interests so they can enjoy their job and contribute successfully. We believe it is as fun to work at IKEA as it is to shop at IKEA,” said Holly Davidson, the Fishersd store manager.
