Norcraft is expanding its Winnipeg plant

Kitchen and bathroom cabinet supplier Norcraft Companies is expanding its manufacturing facility in Winnipeg, Canada, citing increased demand for its Urban Effects product line in Canada and the U.S.

“This facility expansion is a direct result of our commitment to introducing new products and servicing our customers to grow our business in this region," said chairman and CEO Mark Buller. "The new capacity will further enable us to increase our sales and profitability in Canada as we more than double our manufacturing capacity, enhance our logistical and operational efficiencies, and position ourselves to better serve our customers."

The added space will go toward expanding the facility's current operations, reducing offsite warehousing and bringing offsite shipping activities back to the plant.

The project is expected to cost the company approximately $7.1 million, adding 78,000 sq. ft. to the existing 56,700 sq. ft. at the facility.

The newly completed add-on is expected to be up and running by mid-2015.
