New leadership opens at WDMA
The Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) installed its new leadership team, including chairman Al Babiuk of Loewen Windows, during the WDMA Spring Meeting and Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C.
Babiuk replaces outgoing chair Steve Donner of Weiland Sliding Doors and Windows, an Andersen company. His chairmanship will run from 2015 to 2017.
"During the past year, WDMA has continued to demonstrate its effectiveness in representing the interests of our window, door and skylight industry members while driving collaboration with various regulatory and policymaking bodies," said Babiuk. "With a high pace of change continuing in the policy areas of energy conservation, building codes, environmental stewardship, housing and taxation, WDMA will again advocate for an approach that balances these reforms with the competitiveness of its members.
"In addition, the association will be moving forward under its strategic plan with increased areas of focus and expansion of existing programs, and I look forward to taking a leadership role in this exciting phase for the members of WDMA".
Babiuk is president and CEO for Loewen, a 110-year old manufacturer of windows and doors based in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada.
In addition to Babiuk, the other members of the 2015-2016 WDMA Executive Committee are:
* Vice Chair/Treasurer: Phil Donaldson, Andersen Corporation, Oak Park Heights, Minnesota;
* Executive Committee Door Representative: Robert Lewis, Masonite International, Tampa, Florida;
* Executive Committee Window Representative: Steve Tourek, Marvin Windows & Doors, St. Paul, Minnesota; and
