National Analysts points to changing attitudes
The upcoming Home Improvement Research Institute’s (HIRI’s) Fall Conference will include a presentation on homeowners' views of home improvement.
George Leon, senior VP of National Analysts Worldwide, will present “Changing Attitudes toward the Home in the First 12 Years of the New Millennium.” The event takes place in Chicago Oct. 16.
Analysis of historical HIRI data (2000–2012) shows that the interest in DIY activity is declining among younger homeowners. This could have major, long-term implications for the industry. Add that to the graying of America, and it’s possible to see major shifts in the DIY/Pro composition of the market.
The HIRI Fall Conference will be held at the Crown Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center. It will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with several presentations focusing on home improvement attitudes and behaviors.
