Man on a mission (statement)
There’s more to company culture than a good mission statement. But why not have the best mission statement on the block?
That’s the feeling of Rick Davis, owner of Building Leaders Inc., who has scoured the web for what he calls corporate “vision promises.” In his opinion, the lumber and building supply industry serves up too many unexciting, repetitive variations of the same theme. Notable exceptions, he said, include what he found on the website of Atlanta-based BMC. The mission statement reads: “Deliver what our customers need, when they need it & how they want it.” He also credited Zeeland Lumber & Supply in Zeeland, Michigan, for clearly stating its delivery excellence.
