Made-in-USA emerges as icon in Las Vegas
Joe McLaughlin, owner of Grumpy Joe's, responded quickly when asked what was on his shopping list at the National Hardware Show, which runs through Thursday here at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
"We're here looking for big brands and American-made products," he said. "We have enough imports."
Big Bear, Calif.-based Grumpy Joe's, purveyor of "snow chains, tools and more," is not alone. The National Hardware Show responded to retailer demand to add emphasis to its "made-in-USA" exhibitors. Among the new category tags to help identify products at the National Hardware Show in 2013 is the red, white and blue Made-in-USA emblem.
"Made-in-USA products will now have a dedicated area on the show floor and include displays from more than 125 companies," said Sonya Ruff Jarvis, VP attendee programs for the National Hardware Show.
The National Hardware Show's Made-in-USA exhibitor list on page 33 of the massive show guide ranges from AAC Forearm Forklift Inc. to Zien Inc., maker of industrial liquids.
The show's Made-in-USA pavilion is sponsored by Made in USA Brand, Elmer's Products and Maglite Flashlights.
