Lumber Liquidators takes stock of home state investments
Lumber Liquidators has made a number of strides in recent months to invest back into its home state of Virginia, totaling more than $50,000 altogether.
Via donations facilitated through its Lay it Forward program, Lumber Liquidators has invested in organizations such as Junior Achievement of Central Virginia, the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula, Williamsburg Montessori School and Thomas Nelson Community College.
Additionally, the company noted that it has more than 500 employees in Virginia thanks to recent expansion efforts and the construction of a new distribution center in Henrico County.
In the meantime, the retailer continues to experience backlash from the recent "60 Minutes" report that publicized allegations against the company that its Chinese-sourced flooring contained illegal levels of formaldehyde.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has called for a federal probe into the company's products, and Seeking Alpha's Whitney Tilson recently published an article titled "Lumber Liquidators is Evil."
