Lighting fixtures sold at Home Depot recalled

Lighting fixtures sold at Home Depot stores under the Thomasville Brand name have been voluntarily recalled, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission.

According to the commission’s report, a cable that supports the light fixtures from the ceiling can fail, causing the fixture to fall. The commission received five reports of fixtures falling, causing bruises in two cases.

In all, the recall includes about 7,500 of the fixtures, which were manufactured in China and imported by Progress Lighting of Greenville, S.C. The recall includes the “International Series” indoor light fixtures, which were sold with metal hardware and frosted white glass.

In addition to Home Depot stores, the fixtures were sold by various lighting and electrical products distributors in the United States. The items were sold from January 2005 through March 2008 for $290 to $1,150, according to the commission.
