Lester Group debuts New River Valley Building Supply
The Lester Group has opened its latest yard under a new banner: New River Valley Building Supply.
Open this week, the Christiansburg, Va. location marks the fifth yard for The Lester Group, which also operates a real estate development business and manages timberlands.
The store is in a former Moore’s Lumber building and has more than 41,000 square feet of warehouse and store buildings spread over five acres. The Lester Group spent the past several months renovating the location.
“The growth in the community and our involvement in the local real estate market made the NRV a perfect choice for us,” said Jay Dickens, CEO and president of The Lester Group
“We worked around the inconveniences caused by the COVID-19 virus with the great support of our contractors and suppliers," Dickens said, noting that the company set an aggressive timeline to open the location this month since purchasing the site at the end of 2019.
Last month, Dickens was elected CEO by The Lester Group’s board of directors. Former CEO Jim O’Brien has moved to the position of co-chairman along with George W. Lester, II.
The Lester Group anticipates employing about 20 associates at the site within the next two years.
“We’re a local store with knowledgeable employees who are providing customers with expert service,” said General Manager Tal Sexton. “We’re already involved in local organizations, strengthening our reputation for community involvement.” The store has joined the NRV Home Builders Association and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.
Products include lumber, plywood, engineered flooring, windows, doors, columns, decking, kitchen cabinets, molding, millwork, roofing, insulation, siding, tools and hardware.
The store has already joined the NRV Home Builders Association and the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, The Lester Group said.
Based in Martinsville, Va., The Lester Group’s other retail locations include Lester Building Supply, Jim Carpenter Company, Taylor Brothers, and Building Supply of Manassas.
