John Deere brings in MowerPlus app

2/20/2018

John Deere is jumping on the mobile app bandwagon with its new MowerPlus smartphone application.

The app provides equipment care tips, maintenance information and other resources for lawn care.

“Mowing the lawn is so much more than just making tall grass short,” said Kevin Duax, product line planner, John Deere. “With our MowerPlus app, homeowners can easily refer to expert tips and historical data to ensure efficient and effective lawn upkeep.”

Using MowerPlus, homeowners can choose to “Mow Now” and start track mowing metrics. Users can view real-time statistics such as average speed, area covered and more.

Additionally, an aerial view of the mowing path for each session can help homeowners diversify their pattern to protect turf health.

The app also lets homeowners know how long it has been since they last mowed.

Owners can also keep tabs on the make, model and serial number of their John Deere equipment for easy access to maintenance and service recommendations. Usage hours and maintenance intervals also help provide service tips for equipment.

A region-specific seasonal timeline feeds timely, climate-relevant tips and reminders year round. Keeping track of mowing history can also point to missed mows, maintenance and other tasks, such as fertilizing, seeding or aerating.

The MowerPlus app integrates with the Apple Watch, which owners can use to easily identify the number of days since they last mowed and the sunset time to quickly decide if they can fit in a mow before dark.

Additionally, users can start and stop recording a mowing session from the watch and automatically sync statistics with the app.
