Jenn-Air introduces its first Wi-Fi enabled fridge

2/20/2018

Jenn-Air has followed up its recent release of a connected wall oven with the introduction of its first Wi-Fi enabled refrigerator.

The new 72-inch counter-depth French door refrigerator will feature the brand's Obsidian interior, as well as wireless connectivity and a fully functioning application for IOS and Android devices.

"While unexpected in a refrigerator interior, black really adds a modern sophistication that has been very well-received by designers and high-end consumers alike," notes Jenn-Air marketing director Brian Maynard. "We're excited to broaden our Obsidian options with a counter-depth model that we've elevated to a new level with intelligent connectivity."

Using the mobile app, users will be able to view and remotely control the status of activated settings. Users can choose from a range of notifications to receive, such as a door that's been left open or a loss of connectivity. A special mode allows for remotely activating specific appliance behavior, such as making extra ice when entertaining or decreasing refrigerator temperatures in anticipation of doors being open more frequently.

Additionally, the app can optimize settings depending on the food inside, such as a Max Cool setting that lowers the temperature prior to returning home with a large batch of groceries.

Quick access to online support and instructions also provides features such as live links to purchase items like water and air filters.

Other features include the TwinFresh Climate Control System for separate evaporators in the refrigerator and freezer compartments, two Humidiseal drawers that provide a higher humidity for produce, soft-close refrigerator and freezer drawers, integrated cabinet LED strip lighting and more.
