Home Depot gears up for Spring Black Friday

2/20/2018

The Home Depot is kicking off its Spring Black Friday sales event today with a series of promotions on seasonal goods: mulch, mowers, patio, grills and smart garden devices all figure into the picture.

Running for 11 days, the event is also zeroing in on Home Depot's interconnected retail offerings.

"Our shoppers are demanding more of retailers, and we're answering that call with an increasingly intuitive shopping experience that more efficiently merges the digital marketplace with our stores," says Kevin Hofmann, senior VP and president of online for The Home Depot. "We've made tremendous strides, building out features and functionality that eliminate pain points in our customers' preferred path to purchase."

The Home Depot's interconnected programs and fulfillment options, such as Buy Online and Pickup In Store (BOPIS), are becoming increasingly popular among consumers. During last year's fourth quarter, more than 40% of the retailer's digital transactions were picked up in-store.

"Another piece of the puzzle is providing customers with the brands and products they know at a great value while bringing the latest advancements and technology that make their homes work smarter for them," says Jeanine Huebner, senior VP of hardlines for The Home Depot. "We are constantly looking for the best and most inventive new products to help us lead this next generation of home improvement."

This season's product assortment will zero in on smart-home technology, outdoor power (such as a zero-turn riding mower integrated with Bluetooth technology), simplified gardening (such as "patio-ready" container gardens), connected garden products (like Wi-Fi irrigation controllers), outdoor living (with increased options for patio furniture frame and fabric options), and technologically advanced grilling products.
